First-time storage after a move

Anyone else rent storage for the first time after a move and suddenly realize you own way too much stuff? I hit that point last summer when my landlord wanted the flat empty before my new place in JVC was ready. For two weeks, I was basically living out of suitcases with boxes stacked at a friend's place, and I had to find storage fast.

What helped me most was ignoring the cheapest price first and checking the basics properly. I used this resource just to compare a few options, then I called places directly. Ask about access hours, minimum rental period, and whether the quoted price includes pickup, packing, or insurance. A couple of companies gave me a nice number on WhatsApp, then added fees later for wrapping furniture and admin. Also check the actual unit conditions. If they only show you glossy photos and avoid answering about AC or humidity control, that is a red flag in Dubai. For documents, I only needed Emirates ID and a simple inventory list, but some places were more organized than others.

I would also say think about location more than people expect. A cheaper unit far out can become annoying if you need to grab things more than once. I was moving around enough already, reading places like https://www.timeoutdubai.com/ just to get a feel for different areas and settle into the city, so I knew I did not want another long drive every weekend. If you are storing electronics, books, or clothes, ask specifically about dust, pests, and how items are stacked. My honest opinion, a clean facility with clear terms beats a bargain every time.
